STOCKPORT SIRENS

Storytelling Through Rhythm & Rhyme

A new, FREE 6-month programme from ITSHER for women across the Stockport Borough. This is a space to explore poetry, journaling, performance and music in whatever

way feels right for you. There’s no expectation to perform, speak up, or be good at anything. You can write quietly. You can listen. You can go at your own pace.

We especially want to reach young women aged 18–26 who are NEET or

neurodivergent. If busy rooms, small talk, or new places usually feel like a lot

we’ve thought about that. Sessions are structured, predictable, and led by a team

who understand what it’s like to find typical social settings difficult.

You will never be put on the spot.

This programme is open to every woman in Stockport, aged 18
to 70. No experience is needed.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

  • 6 face-to-face workshops
    (3 hours each)

  • 3 online workshops (2 hours each), if you'd rather join from home

  • 1:1 mentorship, at your pace

  • 3 relaxed peer cafe listening sessions low pressure, come and go as you need

  • 3 filming and audio sessions, entirely optional to appear in

  • A final spoken word, poetry and music event, ahead of International Women's Day 2027 you choose how much or how little you take part in

Delivered by a culturally diverse, LGB+ team of artists and writers who reflect Stockport and Greater Manchester as it really is.
